If the high price of AutoCAD prevents one from purchasing the software, Autodesk has made available CAD software set at a more affordable price. This is none other than the AutoCAD LT, which costs only $900, easily making the it a more affordable model when compared with the earlier version.
Obviously, the manufacturer of the AutoCAD LT, made a study of its market and found the predecessor carried a price beyond the reach of the average user. With the introduction of the AutoCAD LT, Autodesk hopes to reach more potential consumers.
Of course, the AutoCAD LT carries many of the main features of the CAD software, and this includes the DWG which is the original file format. Through the DWG, the AutoCAD LT can easily store 2D data, just as the previous program.
Since DWG is native to the AutoCAD, it has often been acknowledged as the norm when it involves file formatting. It can easily format any number of files. Although, in the case of AutoCAD LT, the feature is somewhat limited. This is because in a typical AutoCAD LT set-up, DWG is not capable of storing data of the 3D variety. The AutoCAD LT may have been as carrying several CAD software features, but 3D capability is not one of them.
Nevertheless, the newer models of the AutoCAD LT have been designed to carry more sophisticated features which should make the it more attractive to consumers. Of course, since some AutoCAD LT features are rather new, one may need some sort of training in order to become familiarized with them.
For example, in the 2000 version of the AutoCAD LT, an interesting feature is the drawing interface which comes in multiple settings. Basically, this feature will allow users to open multiple designs in a single AutoCAD LT session. Ostensibly, this can save time and effort and more importantly, enhance design productivity. However, if one is unfamiliar with many of the functions, training is recommended when using the 2000 AutoCAD LT.
Meanwhile, the 2002 AutoCAD LT has price as its main attraction. Market research found the it as having an average cost of only $725, but more than that, the 2002 version allows users to access the Internet and enjoy such services as AutoCAD forums and bulletin boards.
With regards to the 2004 model of the AutoCAD LT, its save command feature should be of great interest to many patrons, especially since data is saved automatically. This basic feature of the 2004 AutoCAD LT should become quite important in cases of power failure.
For people who are at ease with the traditional AutoCAD LT set-up, settling for the newer models may involve some form of difficulty especially when using the more modern features. With a little training, though, one should eventually find the newer versions of the AutoCAD LT easy to handle.
